Anxiety Attack Remedies
Everyone experiences anxiety attacks from time to time. It is normal and helps us deal with stressful situations. If you have found that your anxiety attacks are causing you extreme fear and making it seem impossible to deal with day-to-day life, then you may need to look for anxiety cures that can help you.
Here are some known ways to help get your anxiety under control.
Breathing exercises. Many times when you experience an anxiety attack, it can cause you to have rapid breathing or cause hyperventilation. It is a good idea to learn to breathe from your diaphragm. Take a slow deep breath in through your nose with your hand on your stomach; make sure that you feel your stomach pushing out. This way you make sure that the air is going into your diaphragm. Hold the breath for a couple of seconds and then slowly let it out through your mouth. Repeat this exercise until you feel yourself calming down.
Relaxation exercises. When you have an anxiety attack, it can cause muscle tension. Learning to relax your muscles can help you get over the anxiety attack easier. Focus on each muscle in your body one at a time and then completely relax it. You can also use meditation, which can be an effective anxiety cure.
Nutrition. If you are not getting enough calcium or B vitamins, your anxiety symptoms can worsen. You also want to avoid stimulants that release adrenaline. Avoiding things like caffeine and nicotine can be helpful as an anxiety cure.
Positive visualization. Sit in a comfortable chair and relax. See yourself in a beautiful setting like the mountains, the ocean, or sitting by the side of a lake. Feel the wind blowing on your face, the sun shining on your back and imagine yourself being calm and feeling relaxed.
Anxiety medication. Even though studies show that psychological therapy is more effective than drugs, anxiety medication may be helpful for short-term help. If you have tried several other anxiety cures during an anxiety attack and none of them seems to be effective, then it would be in your best interest to use the medication for a short time. Always try to use the other techniques first and only use medication the times that the other techniques do not help.
Remember that you can help control your anxiety attacks by using the methods above. Always try using the breathing techniques as soon as the anxiety attacks starts and if this does not help, then you may want to go on to the next anxiety cure to see if it will help the anxiety attack subside.
